Lose the Big Remote

Instead of having a large remote like that, then you can get smaller ones that you can actually attach to your keychain and keep in your pocket or bag. If you do decide to get one of these keychain remotes, you may want to have a keychain that you can split into two. Put your car key on one side and your home keys and garage door remote on the other. That way if you have to give your keys to a valet or auto service center, they only have access to your car key. 

Cover the Windows

If your garage door has windows in it, then you should cover the windows. You don't want anyone to be able to look into your windows and see if there is a car in the garage or not or to see what you may be storing in your garage. If they can't see anything, they are less likely to try to break in. You don't have to do a lot to cover the windows. You can use frosted contact paper and use it to cover your windows. They will still let light through but will keep anyone from seeing in. You can also use a simple adhesive and put colored paper or lace over the window. Then you get the pretty look of the paper or lace while still having windows that no one can see through.
